Lovely Bodies (Part 1)

Ladies & gentlemen, today I’m going to list a few ways to show some lovin’ to our bodies. I think far too many times we tend to be harsh on ourselves and the bodies GOD designed specifically for us, in a way that we would look unique and beautiful. I mean only that sentence should make us want to apologize God and ourselves for not seeing how beautiful and talented we are. Our bodies are constantly doing something to protect us from outsiders, like viruses and bacteria, that tries to invade. It’s working over time, yet we tend to treat it like it’s nothing (quilty !!). But recently I’ve been more passionate about doing things that show my gratefulness towards my body by changing some eating habits and other bad habits. I’m sooo bad at it still but I believe baby steps are better than doing all or nothing! Let us be more graceful for the artwork given to us, and let’s dive in a bit deeper to these new good habits.

This time I’m going to talk about our diets. I know everyone’s body works a little different, so there’s no one way to do things. And depending on are you a big ole meathead or a ballerina, the diets vary. But certain products provide health benefits that should help most of us. The biggest issues usually begin inside us. I would argue most of the symptoms we have, are one way or another linked to our digestion. For my whole life I’ve had issues with my skin, some say there’s no actual cure to my condition. But I’m hopeful. And I believe that if nothing else, I can at least ease the symptoms by eating right. So I stopped eating gluten, because there’s not too many health benefits to gluten, I don’t really need to put it in my system. I would even argue it’s no good for anyone, some people just tolerate it better than others. It has helped a lot in my case to leave it out completely. Now… here’s a list of foods that I added to my diet;

Coconut Water

Because of it’s high in electrolytes and potassium, it makes a great sports drink. On top of that it’s free from all the chemicals used in sports drinks. I usually drink it before and after my workout. And because of its highly hydrating effects, I feel like I get my energy back quicker now. And we all know, when our bodies are well hydrated, our skin looks healthier, we can focus better and our muscles function better. It might also be good for our digestive system. And it may help remove harmful bacteria from our bodies, because of a dude called lauric acid found in coconuts for example.

Green Tea

I quit drinking coffee for the most part and replaced it with green tea, because it’s more soothing for the tummy. It may improve mental alertness, relieve some digestive symptoms and help with headaches. It has said to be a good friend to those who wish to lose weight but there’s no actual proof of it being true to most people. But while you’re at it, I encourage you to try drinking matcha. It has all the same benefits as green tea, but it might have a higher dosage of those because matcha is made of the whole leaves of Camellia sinensis.

Ginger

I know all of us are pretty aware of this power root and it’s health benefits. Most of us, if not all, use it as a healing remedy when we catch a cold or a stomach ache. It’s full of antioxidants that are good for the body. These antioxidants may help treat many type of infections and it may even help treat arthritis. It may also give some relief to nausea and improve digestion. Because of the enzymes in it, it can help break up gasses in our body during digestion. It can also help ease pain. It has said to ease period cramps for example, and I agree. I drink ginger shots when I’m on my periods and it does bring a little relief during that miserable time of month. But I also drink Gingerade kombucha every morning to wake up my system in a healthy way. That way I also keep my immune system strong.

Berries

We tend to eat a lot of berry flavored things. But how often do we actually make sure we get the real deal? I don’t think I eat them enough atleast. Berries are one of the best ways to get a power pack of nutrition. They have less sugar than other fruits, so they are a healthier snack for even those who live with diabetes. These babies that come in multiple colors and shapes, are PACKED with fiber! Fiber is quite important to our gut health. And that’s why by eating berries, you take good care of your digestive system. They also have a lot of vitamins. And they improve brain function. They are tiny but mighty (like me). And they’re such an easy snack to take wherever you go.

These are some of the things I’ve applied to my daily diet, and I feel more powerful and energetic. I’m going to make this topic a series of breaking down healthy habits so we can unpack some more. Please do contact me if you have any tips for me. And please remember, you’re wonderfully and fearfully made in His image. And your body is a beautiful temple, and that’s why it should be loved and cared for in the right way. Do not take it for granted. I pray that God brings healing to whatever condition you may be in, and gives you wisdom and strength to take better care of your body and mind. And that way be a blessing and a light to the people around you. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
